Where to find it

Products → open a product → pricing and option settings

Before you begin

  • Know the unit you charge by and whether the product is imported.
  • Review any existing customer pricing rules before changing the break structure.

01Choose a pricing method

Open Products → your product → Pricing. A method determines the structure of the price table; choose it before entering detailed breaks.

ControlWhat it does
Price per itemA standard item price. Useful when each item has the same base selling price regardless of custom print area.
Square-foot pricingCalculates from print area with a starting rate, a minimum rate, and an optional area discount range.
Square-foot price breaksUses multiple area-rate bands. Later breaks use minimum-rate and area-threshold controls; this is not a quantity-only table.
Variable size / quantity breaksUses break quantities and, when the product has fixed sizes, size selections for those price rows.
Bulk / fixed quantity breaksUses fixed quantity tiers. Check the quantities offered on the customer form after saving.

02Set a price you can check

Open Pricing. This example uses a constant $5 per square foot, with no base charge, area discount, quantity discount, or customer-specific override. These are demonstration prices; use prices appropriate to your business.

A 36 × 24-inch banner is 864 square inches, or 6 square feet. At $5 per square foot, one front-only banner is $30 before options, shipping, and tax.

  1. Choose Square-foot pricing under Pricing method. Confirm the replacement of the initial price structure, then enter all the new values before saving.
  2. In the first price row, set Price to 5, Minimum price to 5, and Backside % to 0. Keeping both rates equal makes the example a constant rate. If you use wholesale pricing, reveal its values and set its Price and Minimum price to 4 and its Backside % to 0 for this demonstration.
  3. Keep the square-foot discount range at 0 and the Retail base price at 0. Leave Quantity discounts empty.
  4. Select Save pricing. Reopen it and confirm the saved rate is $5/sq ft.
Price and Minimum price are both $5 per square foot. The zeroed discount range and empty quantity discounts keep the worked example simple.
ControlWhat it doesIn this example
PriceThe starting rate. Its unit depends on the pricing method.5 per sq ft
Minimum priceThe floor for the square-foot rate as an area discount applies. It is not a minimum order total.5 per sq ft
Backside %The additional backside percentage used by products that offer backside pricing. The field can appear even while this example is front only.0; front only
Show wholesale valuesReveals wholesale rates alongside retail rates. Check these separately if you use wholesale pricing.Optional; example wholesale rate 4

Check the resultOne 36 × 24-inch banner without grommets has an expected product subtotal of $30.

03Separate base charges from print rates

A base price adds a fixed amount on top of product pricing. The Apply retail base price choice controls how quantity affects this amount.

The banner example has no base charge and no quantity discounts. The Save pricing button saves the whole pricing section.
ControlWhat it doesIn this example
Retail base priceA fixed additional amount, separate from the print rate.0
Per line itemAdds the base charge once for that order line. Two banners on one line with a $10 base charge add $10.Optional setup fee
Per unitAdds the base charge for every unit. Two banners with a $10 per-unit charge add $20.Not used here
Wholesale base priceThe corresponding fixed amount for wholesale pricing, shown when wholesale values are visible.0
Quantity discountsAdditional percentage reductions using quantity increments and an upper quantity. These can apply in addition to other discounts. No rows

04Review adjustments and customer rules

Adjust all prices (%) changes the selected retail or wholesale group in the draft. For example, +10 raises 5 to 5.5 and −10 reduces 5 to 4.5. Review every affected value and select Save pricing to persist the changes.

ControlWhat it does
Price groupChooses the retail or wholesale values affected by Apply. Imported products can restrict wholesale editing.
Customer pricingSignup-date rules can replace retail values for eligible customers. Use that section to inspect or remove those rules.
Tax settingDo not charge tax on this product marks the product tax-exempt in its configuration. Set it according to your established tax setup.
Backside optionAn option marked as including backside printing can replace the separate backside price. Avoid assuming both charges will be added.

Check the resultCheck the customer quote using the intended retail/wholesale customer context, size, quantity, sides, and finishing.

You’re ready when…

You can explain the subtotal using the product rate, area or quantity, options, base charge, and applicable discounts.

Common questions

Why is Minimum price visible for square-foot pricing?

It is the lower rate used by area discount pricing. For a constant $5/sq ft example, set both Price and Minimum price to 5.

Why can I edit retail prices but not the pricing method?

For imported products, the vendor controls the method, break structure, sizes, wholesale values, and discount rows. Signup-date rules can also lock price-break structure.

Why does a logged-in customer see another price?

Review the retail/wholesale context, customer signup-date rules, and any applicable customer discounts. Compare the exact same size, sides, quantity, and options.
